"My question is more what is the 911 that won’t be too much for the novice, that’s not going to be a widowmaker like the old 930 Turbo."

It all depends on what "novice" means here. Are you a novice driver or are you a novice sports car driver. Assuming driven as intended, IMO any 911 can be a widowmaker to a novice driver. As to a novice sports car driver, perhaps a Carrera 4 is a better c

911 : What is the Romain Gauthier of the 911 world?

What is the best balance between a track baller 911 and a gentleman’s 911 (for non track use, but not a daily driver). To try and put it in watch terms, I’m wondering what is the Romain Gauthier of the 911 world? Everything you want, quietly respected but

Great pictures of some wonderful cars.

My favourites are the white 930 Turbo from when Porsche where still real drivers cars followed by the Mini at the race track which brings back memories of a truly insane 1380 Cooper S I had that i had real problems stopping between a set of traffic lights

Legendary 930! Those were the days…

The car has a nickname Blackbird Porsche from the Wangan Midnight. It was one of the fastest cars used in street racing in 1980s and 90s. It was unbeaten on the Bayshore route. The official top speed was 308km/h, but it went 320+ on the highways in japan

Looks like another opportunity for a money grab..

By slapping a few stickers on that say Le Mans, on an otherwise GTS. I love Porsche but I can't help but feel they are heading in the wrong direction with all these limited versions (starting to feel a bit like Panerai). I can say that I don't really have

Modem burner: P-car eye candy

Have young folks ever seen a modem anyway? Enjoy! Gulf 917, definitely made the podium for race cars: Always had a soft spot for the 935 although I prefer it in white: The 904 was tiny, reminded me of old Alpines: Beautiful orange paint job: I was surpris

Ahh! A stunning choice!

Yes, the 930 era is very nice. Although rear engined cars are definitely tricky to drive sometime. I still don't know how to drive them properly, and when someone shows me how to take a corner, I still have that instinct that he's stepping on the gas way

Porsche 911 930 " Flat Nose " from 1988.

Credit: Sothebys. Call me traditionalist, but it is not my favorite nose. I much prefer the normal one which is, in my opinion, THE 911 signature. I know the " Flat " is much above in terms of prices, but a " normal " 911 930 is much more my taste. You? B

Love the Elise choice as it’s one which i want and is attainable.

I could come up with several versions of this construct. Here’s one: Porsche Cayman GTS Lancia Delta Integrale Ferrari BB512i Other immediate contenders would be a Porsche Carrera RS (original) and a Lamborghini Miura SV. How ‘bout a Ferrari 288 GTO? And
